Architecture Firm Unveils Modernfold in their own Houston Office Grand Opening

Corgan, a global architecture firm, designed their Houston office with the intent to create more than just a great first impression. All who cross the threshold are met with a hospitality-forward entryway delivering on the promises of their brand. As a long-standing specifier of Modernfold operable walls, Corgan knew that they could accomplish both a striking design and the creation of a flexible space with one key partnership.

First Impressions Count

“We are a welcoming firm with a welcoming culture, and we needed a front that demonstrated that,” said David Euscher, Vice President at Corgan. Modernfold distributor, TRW Family of Companies, consulted with Corgan to help achieve their goals of bringing transparency, aesthetics, and acoustical control to this new space.  Logistically, the front of the office needed to be a usable space that could support reception, a break room, and a conference space.  This conference space needed to be able to flex from private meeting environment to open event space. 

Distributor TRW Consults with Care and Precision

The recommendation of TRW was to utilize Modernfold’s Acousti-Clear® glass movable wall product family inclusive of the Acousti-Clear® Demountable system and the Acousti-Clear® single panel system.  The pairing together of both fixed and movable walls from the same product family brought a unified design together with ease.  Matching panel construction and the lack of a floor track for either system, made the choice easy.  As a bonus, the Acousti-Clear® Demountable system once installed also helped create a stationary hallway giving the open space greater directional flow.

This layout would prove challenging and highly unique, but thanks to TRW’s tenured team, the installation went very well.  With their deep understanding of structural requirements, TRW was able to provide technical consultation from the engineer stamped drawings to the city codes and requirements to the required steel work.  “We understand what is at stake for our clients.  It is their showcase space and we treat it accordingly,” said Glynn Trahan, President of TRW Family of Companies.

Shock and Awe of Visitors

Mariju Wille, Vice President at Corgan, expressed that the walls “look great and are so easy to move around,” and that visitors have “shock and awe when they learn the walls move.”

The final solution entailed Acousti-Clear® 45 STC rated panels with black powder coat and a custom ladder pull handle.  The operable wall system runs on Modernfold’s programmable SmartTrack system.
